You see the pre-workout, and protein supplements staring at you on the merchandise shelf every day on your way in and out of the gym, but you don’t really know if or how they can benefit you. Pre-Workout Supplements:
Pre-workout is a multi-ingredient dietary formula designed to boost your energy, overall performance, and in some cases increase hydration. Typically, pre-workout comes as a powdered substance that you add to water and drink before exercise.

Like anything, there are good pre-workouts and bad ones based upon what ingredients are in them. In the gym, we carry Ascent pre-workout which is “clean” supplement. Meaning that it doesn’t have anything in it that isn’t completely all natural. It is best to look over your supplements before taking them to ensure they don’t contain artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols.
Not everybody needs to take a pre-workout supplement. If you find that you are frequently lacking energy and have a difficult time giving your all throughout your workouts it is definitely something to try.
Whey Protein Powder:
Whey protein is a very healthy way to add more protein to your diet. It is a high quality protein source that is absorbed and utilized efficiently by the human body. This type of protein is important for athletes, body builders, and people who are looking to gain muscle madd and strength while losing fat.
Not only is taking a whey protein supplement good for your diet, but it is also a very convenient way to get in about 25g extra of protein. You can just scoop it and shake it up with some water or milk if you’re looking to get a little extra protein and you have a whole protein filled meal.
Like pre-workouts there are good and bad protein supplements. Always search for a supplement that fits your dietary needs, with the least possible ingredients.
